Committees

The committee process is extremely important to the AAO-HNS/F. The actions by the Board of Directors stem for the most part from recommendations by Academy or Foundation committees. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard! I urge you to let your desire and willingness to serve on a committee be known, and if you see a need that should be addressed, channel your request through the appropriate Academy/Foundation committee. It’s your Academy. Get involved!

Ronald B. Kuppersmith, MD, MBA
President-Elect

How are members selected to serve on AAO-HNS/F committees?

Applications must go through an approval process before selections are official:

  • Committee Chair makes recommendations;
  • President-elect makes preliminary appointments;
  • President-elect’s recommendations are submitted to the Executive and Finance Committee for review; and
  • Board of Directors approves appointments during its June meeting.

Applicants will be notified regarding appointments in late June.

When will I be notified regarding committee appointments?

  • Applicants are notified electronically in late-June;
  • Newly appointed members are given an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the committee by attending as an invited guest to the next committee meeting prior to their term; and
  • Terms begin October 1 and end on September 30.
